Dacic: Trump opened up the prospects for Serbia to build partnership with USA with somewhat higher level of mutual trust

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, who was a guest on RTS show Upitnik, said that it would be better for Serbia if the Republicans rather than the Democrats came to the White House since the Trump Administration is not treating so-called Kosovo problem as a fait accompli matter.

"The Democratic Administration would not seek a compromise, they demand that we recognize the so-called Kosovo. The Trump Administration is expecting a compromise, and that makes a huge difference", Minister Dacic.

In anticipation of US Presidential elections Minister Dacic said that the Trump Administration was not ideal for Serbia either, since Trump recognizes so-called Kosovo as an independent state but that "a window of opportunity has opened" for Serbia to "build partnership with somewhat higher level of trust than before" with the USA.

He said that chances to postpone the elections in the USA were non-existent since that has never happened before and it is clearly stipulated that they are to be held on the first Tuesday in November.

He said that the forthcoming elections were special because Trump himself was a special candidate and person.

"We tend to forget that he was the first candidate to have been elected that has not been engaged in the military or held a public office before. He is totally anti-establishment and the richest President in the US history", Dacic recalled.

He said that the result is uncertain and that the focus will be placed on key and swing states.
