First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic participated in the 17th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the International Organization of La Francophonie, held on 11-12 October in Yerevan, Armenia.

The Republic of Serbia has been an observer in this Organization since 2006, while this year's Yerevan Summit, by a unanimous decision of all 52 full-fledged members, agreed to upgrade Serbia's status from an observer to an associate member of the Organization.

As an Associate Member, the Republic of Serbia will be able to expand participation in the activities and programmes of the Organization. Associate membership is a necessary step towards full membership, which is a prospective goal.

On the fringes of the Summit of La Francophonie, the Serbian Foreign Minister had a number of bilateral meetings.
