The Republic of Serbia was admitted to full membership of the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research at the regular annual plenary session that took place in The Hague, under the Netherlands' chairmanship, on 1 December 2011. It also took part in its work before (since 2006 as an observer and from 2009 as the acceding country).

The Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research (ITF) is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1998 with the aim of mobilizing and coordinating activities in Holocaust education, remembrance and research. It has a membership of 31 states.

The decision to rename the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust, Education, Remembrance and Research to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) was made at the regular annual ITF meeting in Liege, Belgium, in December 2012.

Membership of this organization is an international acknowledgement of the decades-long activities carried out by the Republic of Serbia, which has marked on a regular basis since the end of the World War II all important dates commemorating the suffering of Jews, Serbs, Roma and others in all state territories in the WWII period and has undertaken various activities in the areas of Holocaust education, remembrance and research.

Representatives of the Republic of Serbia participate, on a regular basis, at the plenary and other IHRA meetings, thus contributing this topic being discussed within the international framework in an adequate manner.
