Political relations:

  • In previous years, a larger number of meetings between the high-level officials of the two countries took place in the margins of international events.
  • The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, visited Washington D.C. twice in 2015, between June 2 and June 4, and between September 15 and September 17, respectively at the invitation of Vice President Joseph Biden, when a number of bilateral meetings were held with high-ranking US officials.
  • On February 26, 2015, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić met the Secretary of State, John Kerry, during his visit in Washington D.C. to attend in his capacity as OSCE Chairman-in-Office, a US Congress Helsinki Commission hearing.
  • Over the past few years, FDPM/MFA I. Dačić has attended the National Prayer Breakfast event, held annually in February in Washington D.C, at the invitation of the US President.
  • Secretary of State John Kerry led the US delegation to the OSCE Ministerial Council Meeting in Belgrade, December 2015.
  • State and trade delegation, headed by Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, visited the United States in the period 9-16 May 2013, at which time Prime Minister Dacic met with Vice President J. Biden and Deputy Secretary of State W. Burns.
  • U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Belgrade in October 2010. and in October 2012.
  • Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Vuk Jeremić visited Washington in December 2009.
  • U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden visited Belgrade in May 2009.


Economic relations:

In the period from January to November 2015, total trade in goods amounted to 486 million USD (exports 227.3 million USD, and imports 257.7 million USD). The United States is among the largest investors in Serbian industry.
The total value of trade in 2012 amounted to USD 415.4 million (exports from the RS amounted to USD 98.4 million, with imports amounting to USD 317 million). In the first six months of 2013, exports from RS amounted to USD 132 million, and imports to USD 143 million.
