Political relations:

Serbian FDPM/MFA I. Dacic made an official visit to Sri Lanka on 7-8 May 2018, when he met with Speaker of Parliament K. Jayasuriya, Prime Minister R. Wickremesinghe and MFA T. Marapana.

The bilateral relations are characterized by traditional friendship and mutual understanding, with the mutual interest in the promotion of bilateral relations. FDPM and MFA Ivica Dacic met with MFA of Sri Lanka Gamini Peiris at the margins of the Bled Strategic Forum on 2 September 2014.

The Presidents of Serbia and Sri Lanka had a bilateral meeting on the margins of the Summit of Non-Aligned Countries, in Egypt in 2009. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka G. L. Peiris headed the delegation of his country at the Commemorative Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade in September 2011, when he was received by the then President of the Republic B. Tadic and Foreign Minister V. Jeremic. The then Minister of Foreign Affairs V. Jeremic had a bilateral meeting with Minister G. L. Peiris on the margins of the multilateral gathering in Bali, in May 2011


Economic relations:

In 2017, trade in goods amounting to EUR 3,43 million was recorded, of which exports from the RS amounted to EUR 163.000, and imports from Sti Lanka to EUR 3,27 million.
