Diplomatic relations with Chile were established in 1935. They were renewed in 1946. Diplomatic relations were broken off on two occasions, in 1947 and 1973, and the last renewal was in March 1990. |

Visits
- Foreign Minister I. Mrkic attended, as part of the Serbian delegation headed by President T. Nikolic, the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC)-EU, 26-27 January 2013 in Santiago, on which occasion he met with President S.Piñera.
- Then MFA V. Jeremic paid a visit to Chile on 31 May 2012.
- Then MFA V. Jeremic paid a visit to Chile in June 2010, and in September 2010 attended the celebration of the bi-centenary of independence of Chile.
Economic relations:
In 2015, exports amounted to EUR 3.48 million, and imports to EUR 17.48 million. In the period from January to September 2016, exports were EUR 3.52 million, and imports EUR 13.06 million.
