Visits

The visits exchanged between the two countries' Prime Ministers in 2014/2015 made a crucial contribution to the promotion of bilateral dialogue and relations, were also further enhanced through regular meetings at the margins of international and regional forums (such as the participation of Prime Minister A. Brnabic in the Western Balkans Six Prime Ministers' meeting held in Durres on 26 August 2017), strengthening of regional cooperation and identification of mutual priorities, particularly in the framework of the so-called Berlin Process (Belgrade-Tirana motorway, launch of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office in Tirana in 2017, to which Serbia was the largest contributor), and also through focusing on priority areas of common interest – economic cooperation, European integration and infrastructure connectivity.


Economic relations:

Trade in goods, as the basis of economic cooperation, has been on a continuous rise. According to the Republic of Serbia Statistical Office data, in the first 10 months of 2017 the volume of trade amounted to EUR 132 million, out of which Serbian exports amounted to EUR 102.4 million, while imports from Albania reached EUR 29.6 million.

In the field of economic cooperation, a wide untapped potential has been noted in many areas, ranging from agriculture to tourism. The impetus for its further strengthening was provided in particular through holding the first, constitutive session of the two countries' Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation in 2015, Serbian manufacturers exhibiting regularly at the annual Tirana International Fair (the latest fair, held in November 2017, featured approximately 100 Serbian companies), and also through the exceptional inter-chamber cooperation. In the margins of the meeting between the two countries' Prime Ministers in Nis in October 2016, a business forum was held with participation of over 250 companies from both countries, when MoU between the two countries' chambers of commerce was signed on the establishment of the Serbia-Albania Chamber of Commerce and Industry based in Tirana. The first General Assembly of the joint Chamber was held on 25 November 2017 in Tirana, with participation of more than 100 companies from the two countries, in the presence of the President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and of Minister of the Economy of the Republic of Serbia.
