OSCE Ministerial Council opens in Kyiv

OSCEMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic, heading the delegation to the 20th Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Kyiv (Ukraine), 5-6 December 2013, addressed today's plenary meeting of the Ministers of the OSCE Participating States.

At a working lunch for heads of delegations, Minister Mrkic took part in the introductory discussions, along with the host, Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Leonid Kozhara and President and Foreign Minister of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter.

On the fringes of the meeting, Minister Mrkic had bilateral meetings with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Germany Guido Westerwelle; of Russia, Sergey Lavrov; of Canada, John Baird; of Croatia, Vesna Pusic; of Montenegro, Igor Luksic; of Norway, Borge Brende; of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak; of the Czech Republic, Jan Kohout; of Moldova Natalia Gherman; of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov; of Sweden Carl Bildt; of Mongolia, Luvsanvandan Bold and of the Holy See, Dominique Mamberti. Minister Mrkic also met briefly with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

Minister Mrkic also had talks with US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Ranko Krivokapic.

On the second day of the meeting, Minister Mrkic plans to meet with President and MFA of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter, Foreign Ministers of Georgia, Maia Panjikidze and of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Idrisov, as well as OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Astrid Thors and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.
