Mrkic - KaurMinister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivan Mrkic conferred today, on 20 November 2013, with Mrs. Preneet Kaur, Minister of State for External Affairs of India, who was on a three-day working visit to Serbia.

It was jointly noted in the course of the talks that the relations existing between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of India had been characterized by the traditional, decades-long friendship and a high level of mutual understanding.

Minister Mrkic expressed his gratitude for India's consistent position reflected in the support to Serbia regarding the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, which was reiterated by State Minister Mrs. Kaur on this occasion as well.

Possibilities for the enhancement of overall cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of economy, culture and education, were discussed in the talks, and it was pointed to the need for further strengthening contractual cooperation.

The Protocol between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of India on Bilateral Negotiations for Serbia's Accession to the World Trade Organization and the Lease Agreement concerning the Indian Ambassador's Belgrade residence were signed in the presence of Minister Mrkic and State Minister Mrs. Kaur.

Minister Mrkic and State Minister Mrs. Kaur also visited the information-technologies park in Indjija and toured the new building, whose construction marked the end of the first stage of the project of building this center for modern technologies. On the occasion, Minister Mrkic pointed out that Serbia highly appreciated the involvement of Indian companies in the construction of the IT park in Indjija, and he expressed his belief that the volume of Indian investments in Serbia would increase.
