nacionalna komisija_za_uneskoThe new membership of the Commission of the Republic of Serbia, tasked with cooperation with UNESCO, held itsInauguralMeeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 20 May 2015. The Commission was established by the Government of the Republic of Serbia in April 2015, on the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his opening remarks to the members of the Commission, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic pointed to the importance that the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attached to cooperation with UNESCO, and highlighted the need forintensifying Serbia’s activities in all areas of UNESCO operations, particularly in protecting Serbian medieval monuments in Kosovo and Metohija.

Minister Dacic wished the members of the Commission every success in their work and reaffirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Serbia to UNESCO to continue providing all the necessary assistance to the Commission throughout its work, in the future as well.

The inauguralmeeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Goran Milasinovic, President of the Commission of the Republic of Serbia for Cooperation with UNESCO. The meeting was also attended by Mr. VeljkoOdalovic, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
