minskFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Belarus, met today with the Prime Minister of that country Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Anatoly Rubinov and Foreign Minister Vladimir Mackay.

The most important issues in the field of bilateral cooperation were considered in open and friendly talks and satisfaction expressed over the pace of political dialogue.
Emphasizing that the visit was taking place in the year marking two decades since the diplomatic relations were established between Serbia and Belarus, the officials agreed that priority in the coming period should be given to intensifying mutual cooperation, especially in trade and economic fields, which is far below the capabilities of both parties. An interest in a stronger presence of Belarusian companies in Serbia was emphasized, primarily in investments in the Serbian economy and the privatization processes.
Minister Dacic said after the meeting that the two countries were linked by long friendship and stressed that Serbia wanted even better cooperation with Belarus.
“In the future, we plan to improve economic relations and increase foreign trade. In February 2015, the Joint Committee of the two countries for economic cooperation will meet and we expect that this will result in partnerships between our companies, even joint ventures for expansion to third markets”, said Dacic.
He said that Serbia, during its OSCE Chairmanship next year, would invest a lot of effort to make this organization have good cooperation with the Belarusian authorities.
The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for the principled position of Minsk on the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.
During his visit to Belarus, the Serbian Foreign Minister laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
