Information on the Implementation of the Law on Restitution of Confiscated Property

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia passed the Law on Restitution of Confiscated Property and on Compensation ("Official Gazette of RS" No. 72/2011) that entered into force on 6 October 2011. The law served as the basis for the establishment of the Restitution Agency.

Information regarding the implementation of the above Law is available at the Restitution Agency's internet site at www.restitucija.gov.rs or at the following telephone numbers: +381 11 362 19 84; +381 11 362 19 85; +381 11 362 19 86.

According to the information made publicly available by the Restitution Agency on its internet site, requests for exercising rights under the above Law should be submitted solely in accordance with the public invitation which this Agency released on 6 February 2012, in the media: "Politika" and "Vecernje Novosti" daily newspapers, as well as on the internet sites of the Ministry of Finance at www.mfp.gov.rs and the Restitution Agency at www.restitucija.gov.rs.

Applications accompanied by the originals or certified copies of the necessary proofs should be submitted to the Restitution Agency – its relevant territorial unit, via postal service counters.

Applications may be submitted solely at postal service counters until the expiration of the two-year period, starting from the date the public invitation for submission of property restitution claims was released at the internet site of the Ministry of Finance. A list of the receiving post offices is available at the internet sites of the Ministry of Finance: www.mfp.gov.rs and the Restitution Agency: www.restitucija.gov.rs.
