Dusko Lopandic new Head of Serbia’s Mission to EU

lopandic-euAmbassador of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union Dusko Lopandic presented his credentials to President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy. In his conversation with Ambassador Lopandic, President Van Rompuy emphasized his support and personal commitment to the European integration process, along with his belief that the European Council will make a positive decision, at the end of the week, on commencing negotiations on Serbia's accession to the EU.
Van Rompuy underlined that the leadership of the Republic of Serbia had taken courageous and resolute steps indispensible in further EU integration process, serving as a role model to other countries of the region, as well. He expressed his satisfaction at the opportunity to visit Belgrade in a few days, on 1 July 2013.
Ambassador Lopandic conveyed the greetings of President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic and expressed Belgrade's readiness and expectation to open a new chapter in its relations and commence accession negotiations with the EU.
Dusko Lopandic was Attaché in the Missions of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) and Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) to the European Community. From 2001 to 2004, he was Director of the Directorate for EU, FRY Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He was also Ambassador of Serbia to Portugal and Cape Verde. From August 2011 until recently, Lopandic was Assistant Foreign Minister in charge of the relations with the EU.
