On February 9, 2016, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Assistant Foreign Minister, Ambassador Dragan Momcilovic issued an exequatur to Mr. Edvin Stefanov Sugarev, newly-appointed Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Nis. The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Serbia, Angel Dimitrov, also attended the formal ceremony.

On this occasion, discussions were held on the current issues of the cooperation between the two countries, above all in the areas of European integration of the Republic of Serbia, migration and mutual engagement in crisis management and emergency response. The future activities of the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Nis were highlighted, particularly in the field of developing industrial and cultural ties, as well as in the field of cooperation between the regions and cities of the two countries.
